The present firm was founded in 1991 by partners from one of Huntsville's oldest law firms, and the firm merged with one of Athens, Alabama's oldest law firms, Patton, Legge & Cole.  Since its inception, Wilmer & Lee has grown to over 25 lawyers, and has two office locations, making it one of the largest firms in North Alabama.  We offer a full array of legal services, including litigation, corporate law, labor and employment, civil rights, banking and commercial law, insurance defense, workers compensation, real estate law, government contracting, health care law, bankruptcy, taxation, trade secrets litigation and other emerging areas of the law.  Our client base is just as diverse as our areas of practice, and we have clients all over the country.

We pride ourselves on being client-friendly and accountable.  We believe that it is vitally important to have satisfied clients.  To that end, the firm is committed to its goals of providing the highest quality legal services while controlling the cost of those services.  Each of our firm's attorneys has demonstrated academic excellence and significant experience in a wide range of legal and business settings. Our firm's lawyers include: a past State Bar President, the past President of the Huntsville-Madison County Bar Association, past Bar Examiners, past and present Bar Commissioners, former counsel to the Governor, former State Supreme Court and Federal Law Clerks, former Army Judge Advocate Attorneys, and former National Labor Relations Board counsel.  Six of our attorneys have attained advanced degrees, Master of Law degrees (L.L.M.s), in their areas of concentration.

The firm has attorneys who are licensed to practice law in Alabama, Tennessee, Mississippi, Florida, Louisiana, and Pennsylvania.  Additionally, the firm has attorneys admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Federal Claims, the United States Tax Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, and all United States District Courts in Alabama.

Because of the varied backgrounds and experiences of our attorneys, we provide our clients with the legal skills, experience, and resources commonly associated with large firms and the service, efficiency, and accessibility typical of smaller ones.
